This week’s blog is a guest entry from ACTE:

Dear Career and Technical Student Organization Officer,

CTSOs are great advocates for career and technical education throughout the year. It is your experiences in career and technical education programs that bring to life the decisions legislators make regarding CTE.

The Association for Career and Technical Education (ACTE) wants to make sure legislators make those connections between their decisions and your experiences. ACTE invites students to attend the National Policy Seminar, March 8-10 at the Crystal Gateway Marriot in Arlington, Virginia. A special student rate and specific student content will make this a worthwhile event for you to learn how students can better participate in advocacy efforts.

Register today at the special student rate of $120 and take part in:

• Three student leadership special sessions to help prepare you for your visits to Capitol Hill, meet other CTE students from around the country, and plan for what to do once you return home.

• Five general sessions that provide information on the current political environment for CTE; how to connect CTE to funding opportunities, economic development, and broader education issues; and the future of CTE.

• Visits to Capitol Hill with your representatives. Put what you learned at NPS into action when you visit your representatives and help them make the connection between CTE and student success and economic development.

Your leadership in a CTSO gives you the experience you need to advocate for CTE. Join ACTE in March and help Congress make the connection!

Sincerely,

Janet B. Bray
Executive Director, ACTE
